Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's)
An EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) is legally required for any building that is being put on the market for sale or rental purposes irrespective of whether the property is being sold or let privately or through an estate agency. The EPC contains information regarding the energy efficiency of the property, its carbon emissions and its typical running costs alongside suggestions on how to improve the energy efficiency. This certificate gives a rating from A-G where A is the most energy efficient.

I’m thinking of putting my property on the market. Do I need an EPC?
Yes, you either need a pre-existing EPC that is still valid, or arrange for us to prepare one for you before your property is marketed. There are however some exceptions to this rule. To find out more about these exceptions, please call our offices on 01603 765858.
How long is my EPC valid for?
An EPC is valid for up to 10 years. If the EPC is no longer valid, a new EPC must be commissioned before marketing can commence.
